Our Story
ReFarm took shape at the intersection of research, experience and chance, driven by a growing urgency to turn ideas into action. After more than 25 years in finance, and having planted 80,000 native trees on a former golf course, Anke Heydenreich found herself asking how meaningful investment could help restore nature across Ireland at scale. Ireland’s real opportunity for restoring biodiversity lies with farmers, who manage most of the country’s landscape. Anke believed strongly that restoring nature should not depend on buying farmland, a costly and often exclusionary approach. Instead she championed supporting farmers to lead the transition in a way that is fair, practical and economically efficient. She began looking for scalable ways to invest in nature by supporting farmers directly.
